festism at lincoln park tremont 2008

august 10, 2008 @ lincoln park.

there was a good turnout despite the periods of pouring rain with approximately 25 people stopping through in particapating in either hot dogg eating, soda drinking & or making a piece of art to hang on andrew ka ‘tree mobile’. the art making was held back because of the rain storms that were passing through but AKa had a grill with hot dogs and brandt gallery supplied a cooler of pop so the offer of free food brought the attention of the men taking shelter at the gazebo [after assuring them that we were not part of the church].

everyone left happy despite the limited activities.

a handful of my photos are here, previous festism photos are here.

saint theodosius interior 2006

saint theodosius circa 2001

st. theo is a russian orthodox church that was founded in 1896 in clevelands southside which is now known as tremont. i was ony inside the church twice, the latest being this past sunday the 16 of september 2006 when they were having an ‘open house’. the church is like a musuem with all the art and ‘bling’ shining from the stained glass filtered light.
before i get an email from andy i’ld like to point out that scenes from the movie ‘deer hunter’ were filmed inside the church. i still never got a congruent answer on why they filmed around tremont to portray inner city pittsburgh in that movie but if you have something please share.
the gallery where i posted these latest shots of the interior of st. theodosius was created in 2001 though this cathedral has not changed much.

the photo on top is from 2006, the bottom shot is from 2001 before browns market moved to baltimore. here are the pics.

ohio citizen action button makin, mittal hatin

the day was september 16, 2006.

walking through lincoln park during the TACF, i had the feeling of bill murrays character in the movie groundhog day. always someone trying to sell me insurance, people with their art for sale, belly dancers and that chinese dragon.

there was actually a couple new vendors like ohio citizen action and that cool button making machine (i made a real cool button only to lose on my bike the following day, i knew i should of gave it to jovanna like she asked).
tom cole also had his jewelry and sold quite a bit, twas good to see tom later in the night tilting a beer with a big smile on his face (thanks to the peeps who allowed that to happen).
the wi-fi stand was also new and i saw steve goldberg scheming the air with his crazy antenna while cursing his laptop, something about ‘god-damn civilization’(?)

props to scott r who spent a lot of his time in preparation for the event. hopefully some year that huge stage could be put to better use..

heres a few snaps.
