jerk performs at straight outta compound 2006

colin mans the icecream truck at compound 2006

the date for this years compound fest was august 5, 2006. the bill was made up of mostly bands that use the space as their practice site and a few other bands as well.

i had to leave at 6pm to arrange my ride for the evenings red krayola/blktygr show (those photos soon) so inevitably i missed a handful of bands (muamin, giant eagle, tall pines, homo stupids, boattz, short rabbits, friend..).

thanks goes out to the organizers including john neely that organized the bands and mr dilibarto (sp?) that was the main chef in front of the grill all day. also, much love to all the other folks (bands, sound,etc..) that provided their time and energy.

some of the bands i did catch was: roue, jerk, leroy’s frosted rocks, rainy day saints, sounder, this moment in black history, state of ohio, brandons new band & blazer.

the photos are here, last years inaugural compound fest shots are here..

BTW: i’m going through this panoramic/sepia thing, please bear with me..

this moment in black history & muamin collective

muamin collective opened for this moment in black history at the inside-outside gallery at the inside/outside gallery on march 31, 2006.

this was the second muamin show i’ve seen in the last month and they sounded alot tighter than last show here. most of the shots have people smiling or enjoying themselves which is also a good indicator of the fun that was had.
“this moment” performed last and put on one of their wackiest if not best show i’ve seen of theirs in a while.

the photos are here.

roue at the grog shop christmas night 2005

the grog-shop had a decent christmas show that
featured some of cleveland’s best local bands: roue, machine
go boom, this moment in black history and sounder.

the next night at the "happy dog"
had the new lou reeds & MGB but i only shot a few pics.
TNLRs have a dude playing horn and added a rhythm guitarist
that i forget his name but he plays in "the dreadful
yawns".

these photos are first in over a year that i
pasted my ID on them before i uploaded (for reasoning behind
that decision, visit this blog-entry.

the christmas shots from the grog are here.

the fatal flying guillotines at the beachland

the fatal flying guillotines & this moment
in black history performed the beachland tavern this evening.
TFFG asked me for a few of the photos of their set for a
possible use in the "houston press" i’m not sure if
that pub will use them but the magazine "razorcake"
has used a few of my older "this moment in black
history" shots for their current (september 2005)
magazine which is available at fine music & book stores
such as "viva libre books & music" on west 14th
in tremont.

the shots (5) of this show is here.
