bullet teeth at *the church* cleveland tremont

this was the second show at “the church” (formerly know as the inside/outside gallery) but it was the first that i had a chance to take a few shots at.
i’ve known nick whom is the drummer in bang-bang for a few years from his other band “new black” (also from chicago) that has performed at pat’s in the flats on a few occasions.
nick joined us for tacos before the show and i was telling him that i don’t ever think i’ve seen bang-bang but later that evening once they started their set i remember them playing at the coffinberry CD release show with “clouds forming crowns” last september 29, 05. nick was not with bang-bang for that show so that may have been something to do with it but many times i don’t recall seeing certain bands unless i see them again or see the photos..
the band “bullet teeth” from portland opened up the poorly attended sophmore show at “the church” and i’m pretty certain that i’ve never seen them before but would like to see them again.
the april 25, 2006 show at “the church” photos are here.

muamin collective opened for this moment in black history at the inside-outside gallery at the inside/outside gallery on march 31, 2006.

this was the second muamin show i’ve seen in the last month and they sounded alot tighter than last show here. most of the shots have people smiling or enjoying themselves which is also a good indicator of the fun that was had.
“this moment” performed last and put on one of their wackiest if not best show i’ve seen of theirs in a while.

the photos are here.

the very knees, series and henry james at the inside-outside

this march 19, 2006 show was at the inside/outside gallery. i believe this was the first show of dave-p’s band “the very knees’ since last thanksgiving show at pat’s when dave broke his leg during the performance yet continued. TVK was then named “photo booth”.
the photos of this march 19 show are here.

Aa (big a, little a)

Aa (big a little a) performed with scarcity of tanks and *jerk* at the inside outside gallery in tremont

big a little a, jerk and scarcity of tanks performed at the inside/outside gallery march 11, 2006. Aa headlined the show and incorporate four drummers in their band and we all know that a band can never have enough drummers (see liars new album).
Aa is a cool name for a band but it kinda makes looking them up in search engines pretty tough and that coupled with the fact that there is another Aa! band from japan that had a hit single..

the photos are here.

evolution revolution at the inside outside gallery in tremont

with the; uncomfortable pricks, falling rock and myra gale, at the inside/outside gallery. march 9, 2006.

i have to say that seeing “evolution revolution” on this night of noise / experimental bands was something i did not quite anticapate and was instantly impressed. it is was not because they were a pop band influenced on old verse and chuck berry.

i first met jason martin at the “bunny brains” show when they opened for devandra banhart at the beachland ballroom last year. a few bunny brain tour-stories of jason & wasco later, i had the chance to see jason’s art in a whole “different light” fronting ER.

unfortunatly cleveland scenesters had other things to do and the audience was only about 20 strong but when ER finished they must of sold to at least of 80% of them their latest CD along with a awesome story book. i know how hard it is to get cashed-strapped clevelander’s to open up their wallets and that was no small feat.

uncomfortable pricks, falling rock and myra gale all put on solid set’s this night as well but was overshadowed after evolution revolution performed.

some shots of all these bands can be found here.
