hot cha cha - in & out [video]

july 26, 2008 at the ingenuity festival.

i mentioned in the previous hot cha cha video that the vocals were weak depending on where one was standing, after watching this video i’m sure it was not just me or my recording equipment. part way through this video jovana stands on a monitor and motions to the sound guy of the problem. the sound guy is a veteran of doing sound at big area shows so i’m wondering what the problem was..

the ‘free jazz’ band in this video had a nice set of lights on them and i left those bits in color, the dancers that were performing around the band were in near pitch-black conditions and for those parts i used the night-shot feature on the camera and processed in black & white..

i was only able to take in the late friday night performance of hot cha cha and i was there for most of saturday but i missed sunday because i was in pittsburgh.
i’m posting what i have available as of this moment on the internet of the ingenuity festival, the photo galleries that i have linked to will most likely have additional photos uploaded within the next couple days and i have several more videos to add to this post as well.

my ingenuity photos [incomplete].

hot cha cha is one of my favorite local bands, hot cha cha [exit stencil] are not only awesome performers that are becoming better artists, these beautiful girls are also some the most personable people i’ve known. this was a good show of hot cha cha but not the best show i’ve witnessed HCC because of the open air sound and the lost of intimacy of band considering the huge stage and the cleveland mindset of not being downtown after 10pm.
the performance this night of hot cha cha was much better than i expected but i wish the vocals were heard throughout the outdoor venue. when i moved parallel with the stage when i was photographing there were areas that the vocals were perfect and areas that the vocal were nil.

i caught the first show by the evolution control committee under the bright sunlight and plan to represent that within the next few days. other videos/photos that i have not had the time to get to is ‘9 volt haunted house’, tiny frowns [nate scheible/chris smith], twilight, something..

‘civic ballet’‘a ballet duet’ [all go signs stage] had a beautiful dance featuring lisa k lock & artour bajanov. a short 90 second video is below. [lisa contacted me & corrected me about the correct spelling of her name and that the dance piece is not named the ‘civic ballet’ as read the program & plain dealer had it].

more civic ballet photos are here [gallery incomplete].

i ran upon the tango dance at stage one after hot dog dinner and was puzzled by the dance style of this couple for a short 90 seconds. i know very little of the dance art and maybe someone out there can correct me with some knowledge.

the evening show of the evolution control committee is below i have several photos to upload within the next couple days and this post will be updated then.
